(Minneapolis, MN)  —  Ta’Lon Cooper led five Minnesota players in double-figures by tying his season-high with 16 points, Pharrel Payne had 15 points, and Dawson Garcia added 13 points, but Michigan shot 52.4 percent and made 10-of-18 three-pointers in a 90-75 win over the Gophers at Williams Arena. Minnesota drops to 4-5 this season, 0-2 in Big Ten play. Michigan improves to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in league action.  Michigan jumped ahead 30-11 by making 10 of its first 12 field goals, including 5-of-5 from three-point range. The Wolverines’ largest lead of the first half was 37-13 with 7:42 remaining, but the Gophers fought back with a 15-3 run over the next four-and-a-half minutes to cut the deficit to 40-28. Cooper keyed Minnesota’s run with nine of his team-high 12 first-half points during the stretch. Garcia had seven points and four boards at the break, as the Gophers trailed 47-31.  Minnesota hosts No. 23 Mississippi State on Sunday. Game time is set for 7:30 P-M.
