A free, public celebration of Bud Grant’s life will be held at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, May 21, at noon. Speakers, panel discussions and memorial videos will pay tribute to the Pro Football Hall of Fame coach and honor his contributions to the region as an avid outdoorsman, supporter of veterans and legendary athlete and coach. Grant passed away on March 11, 2023 at the age of 95.

Ticket reservations can be made for up to six seats at www.vikings.com/legends/bud-grant. Entry to U.S. Bank Stadium for the event will be through the Legacy Gate on the West end of the stadium. A free ticket is required for entry, with all tickets being digital and doors opening at 11 a.m. In honor of Bud, attendees are welcome to wear outdoors or team apparel. The winningest coach in Vikings history, Grant served as head coach from 1967-83, ’85, compiling a 168-108-5 overall record, amassed 11 Division titles and led the squad to Super Bowls IV, VIII, IX and XI. Prior to the Vikings, he coached Winnipeg of the Canadian Football League for 10 seasons (1957-66) where he held a 122-66-3 record, led the team to six Grey Cup games and won the title four times.

Grant, a Superior, Wisconsin, native and Superior Central High ‘Vikings’ graduate, went on to be a three-sport standout at the University of Minnesota (football, basketball, baseball) from 1946-49, earning nine varsity letters. Grant was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL and the Minneapolis Lakers in the NBA. Grant played two seasons with the Lakers (1949-50; 1950-51) and helped the Lakers to the NBA title in 1949-50. He played two seasons with Philadelphia (1951-52) and four more with Winnipeg (1953-56). He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1983 and Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1994, the first person to be inducted into both.
