(Minneapolis, MN) — The top-ranked Golden Gopher women’s hockey team wrapped up the regular season W-C-H-A championship over the weekend with a sweep of St. Thomas. Now the two teams will square off this weekend in Minneapolis in the opening round of the W-C-H-A Playoffs. Minnesota is 26-7-and-1 and the top seed in the field, while the Tommies are the eight-seed at 5-25-and-1. This is a best-of-three first round series with game one slated for Friday night at Ridder Arena. Gopher star Taylor Heise of Lake City says this Minnesota team has gotten better each week of the season. The Gophers have not lost in regular since December 10th. Friday’s series opener faces off at 6 P-M.
