There has still been no interview with the officer who shot and killed Justine Damond of Minneapolis last Saturday. Investigators say Officer Muhamed Noor shot the 40-year old woman from the passenger seat of his squad car after she came out to speak with him and his partner. A 911 transcript released on Wednesday confirms Damond called police to report a possible sexual assault in her neighborhood.
A motorcycle accident on Highway 7 near Hutchinson Wednesday afternoon claimed the life of a 26-year-old man. According to the state patrol, Justin Nowak of Mayer crossed the centerline and was struck head-on by a semi and killed. The driver of the rig, 55-year-old Daniel McBride of Watertown, South Dakota was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Overnight rains have caused flash flooding along the Mississippi River Valley in southeastern Minnesota. The National Weather Service reports mudslides and vehicles stranded in high water in Winona, Wabasha and Houston counties. There is also flooding reported near Whitewater Park east of Rochester.
U-S Senator Amy Klobuchar is among the many lawmakers on both sides of the aisle wishing the best for Senator John McCain. McCain was diagnosed with an aggressive cancerous brain tumor on Wednesday. Klobuchar calls McCain “a true patriot” and adds “Our country owes a lot to John McCain, and we stand with him tonight.”
A St. Paul boy missing since 1976 has finally been identified as another in the list of teens killed by notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy. The remains of 16-year old Jimmie Haakenson had been found in the crawl space of a Chicago area home when Gacy was arrested in 1978. Authorities used DNA testing to identify Haakenson who had been previously referred to as “Victim Number 24.” Gacy was executed in 1994.
