Sen. Kathy Sheran (DFL-Mankato)
Top Republicans are complaining to the Dayton administration after six-thousand people got notices that their state-subsidized health insurance would be cancelled because they didn’t submit paperwork on time. Officials respond renewals were received too close to the deadline to avoid the cancellation notice, and eligible people will still be covered. State Senator Kathy Sheran (SHARE-un) says whether it’s private insurance or state programs, renewals have to be returned on time — but she adds, “the time of year that we’re sending out these renewal forms is fraught with all sorts of other information coming to people.” Sheran says her Senate committee will look at whether deadlines can be changed so they don’t coincide with the holidays.
