President Obama delivers his last State of the Union speech later tonight (TUE 8PM). The White House says this will be a “non-traditional” address. Carleton College political science Professor Steven Schier (sheer) explains saying “usually the state of the union is a laundry list of policy proposals, and I think he’ll be more thematic than that, trying to talk about how America has changed and how he has led some positive changes in the country.” Schier says he expects the president will also frame the speech in way that attempts to help the Democratic party ahead of November’s election.
