A Waite Park educator is publishing a book that features a Somali girl as the protagonist. Principal Tammy Wilson explains what inspired her to write “Through My Eyes”. “As a principal of a school with a high Somali population, I saw a need for our students to see themselves represented in literature in our building. And when I couldn’t find any, I went on-line to search for it — I still couldn’t find any so I decided to write such a book.” Wilson says several of her Somali students also inspired her story.
