At last report over $19 thousand has been donated for veterinary bills of two dogs shot by a Minneapolis police officer answering a burglary call over the weekend. The incident report by one of the responding officers alleges “two large size pitbills charged at officer.” But the Star Tribune quotes the animals’ owner, Jennifer LeMay, saying the first dog shot was wagging its tail and wasn’t even moving or lunging toward the officer. LeMay says the animals are doctor-prescribed emotional support for her two sons, who suffer from anxiety. The dogs are expected to make full recoveries.
