20 Farm Service Agency offices in Minnesota temporarily re-open for three days, despite shutdown

January 17, 2019 By Bill Werner

Twenty offices of the federal Farm Service Agency temporarily re-open today (Thurs), tomorrow and next Tuesday (1/22, after MLK holiday) despite the federal government shutdown.  State Agriculture Department officials say they’re pleased FSA offices will reopen for a few days to help farmers process their existing loans. But they are also encouraging farmers experiencing setbacks because of the shutdown to seek assistance from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. Among the help that’s available: low-interest loan programs, one-on-one financial advice and a helpline for farmers and their families who are dealing with stress.
