The Republican Party of Minnesota announced today its 2018 state convention will be June 1st and 2nd at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center. The Minnesota GOP will be back in Duluth, the heart of Democratic territory in northern Minnesota. On its opening Friday, the convention is slated to choose a challenger to U-S Senator Amy Klobuchar, plus name candidates for Secretary of State, Attorney General and State Auditor. The big battle will likely be on day two when delegates are scheduled to choose their candidate for governor. Six are currently in the race with more likely. Democrats have their state convention the same weekend in what’s generally considered Republican-leaning territory: Rochester, at Mayo Civic Center.
