Minnesota is currently averaging 47 hospital admissions for COVID-19 per day, what the Minnesota Department of Health calls the highest 7-day average since mid-May. For the length of the pandemic, more than 92 percent of all confirmed cases of the virus have not resulted in a hospital stay and just two percent have required any time in the I-C-U. Last week MDH stopped sharing data of daily hospitalization and I-C-U numbers, but today the Governor’s COVID-19 dashboard still shows fewer than half of the state’s potential I-C-U beds are in use as of today. Those numbers include patients in the ICU for all reasons, not just COVID-19.
