Governor Tim Walz and public safety officials update Minnesotans later today (noon) on security at the Minnesota Capitol after last week’s violence in Washington D-C and continued threats to state capitols before the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden. Thursday at the Korean War Memorial in Duluth, the governor indicated he knows the feeling when an election doesn’t go the way a person wants. “I woke up many mornings after elections really angry, really disappointed,” the governor said, “but with a clear understanding [that] the majority of people didn’t agree with me, and that’s the way it goes. And now let’s find a way to move forward.”
Walz said there must be accountability, but cautioned President Trump’s opponents against feeling joy or vengeance over his impeachment. He said last week’s violence in Washington D-C is “our generation’s call to figure out how we’re gonna make this better.”
