Twins Lose; Trade Cruz

The Minnesota Twins suffered a pair of losses on Thursday.  On the field, the fell short against the Angels at Target Field.  Off the field, they lost one of their leaders in Nelson Cruz who was shipped off to Tampa Bay. Cruz has over 400 home runs in his career and is 41 years old. In return, Minnesota will receive minor league pitchers Joe Ryan and Drew Strotman. Tampa Bay will also receive a minor league pitcher. The Major League Baseball trade deadline is July 30th.

Nelson Cruz is heading to Tampa Bay

On the field, Angels third baseman Jack Mayfield cranked a three run homer in the 5th inning to help slip past the Twins 3-2 at Target Field. Andrew Heaney went seven innings for L.A. and got his sixth win of the season. Twins starter Kenta Maeda also went seven innings but suffered the loss despite striking out six. Game two of the four game series is tonight at 7:10 P-M with J.A. Happ on the mound for the Twins.
