(St. Paul, MN) — Governor Dayton and other state officials are set to visit a mining site in South Dakota today (TUE). As part of what he calls his “due diligence”, the governor is heading to the abandoned Gilt Edge mine in the Black Hills. He’s going to get a closer look ahead of his decision on a controversial proposed PolyMet site in northeast Minnesota. On Friday, Dayton is scheduled to visit a thriving mine in Michigan that is credited with creating hundreds of jobs and boosting economic development in the area.
