250K petition signatures will demand firing of Mpls police union head Bob Kroll

August 21, 2020 By Bill Werner

A coalition of groups say they’ll deliver more than a quarter-million petition signatures to Minneapolis City Hall today, demanding that Minneapolis police union head Bob Kroll be fired. Jaylani Hussein with the Council on American-Islamic Relations says Kroll has repeatedly supported killer cops and has over 50 complaints against him and 11 successful lawsuits. Hussein calls Kroll “this generation’s Bull Connor.” Connor was known for using police dogs and fire hoses to quell civil rights demonstrations in Alabama in the early 1960s.

Kroll on Wednesday called for Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arrandondo to resign for not challenging city officials and protesters after the killing of George Floyd. A few weeks after Floyd’s death, the chief pulled out of contract negotiations with the police union.
