(St. Paul, MN) – One day after announcing a recall effort against all 66 DFL House legislators, Republican leaders announced they’ve collected more than 5,000 signatures on recall petitions. Minnesota GOP Chair Alex Plechash says the message is clear from Minnesotans – they want DFL lawmakers to show up for work or face recall elections. The GOP must collect 25 signatures in each district to request recall elections. The Republican party says it will turn in the first petitions to the Secretary of State’s Office on Monday. From there, the case could go to the Minnesota Supreme Court.

(Onamia, MN) — Two students were treated for minor injuries after a crash between a school bus and a semi-truck this morning. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the collision happened around 7:15 a.m. on Highway 169 in Onamia. Four students were on the bus at the time. Two were treated at the scene. Neither driver was injured. The crash is under investigation.

(Blue Earth, MN) — David Maland, a native of Minnesota, was tragically killed while working as a federal border agent. He lost his life on January 20 during a gun battle in Vermont near the Canadian border. Maland grew up in Blue Earth. He will rest on February 22nd at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. His family is organizing a private memorial service to honor him.

(Golden Valley, MN) — A school official will not face criminal charges after being accused of concealing brass knuckles used in a fight between students at a Golden Valley school. The physical altercation occurred last November, resulting in one student requiring stitches. The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office has determined that felony charges against Patrick Burrage, the Assistant Principal of Robbinsdale Academy Highview School, are not warranted. Additionally, police have requested felony charges against the student who used the brass knuckles, whom they identify as the aggressor in the incident.
