Today’s hearing will include 13 proposals ranging from banning assault rifles and binary triggers to firearm and school safety, and increasing the penalties for impersonating a police officer. Eight lawmakers are scheduled to unveil their proposals in what is expected to be a three-hour hearing. The next hearing to discuss these proposals is scheduled for Wednesday morning.

(Dilworth, MN) — Dilworth Glyndon Felton Schools says a concerning message shared with a small group of friends this weekend triggered an investigation by the sheriff’s office. Superintendent Shannon Hunstad, in a message to families, says the message was first reported to the School Resource Officer. Clay County Sheriff’s Office investigated and determined that there was no credible threat to student or staff safety. Hunstad says the schools remain safe and both sites are open today.

(St. Louis County, MN) — Two suspects are in custody after a residential burglary in St. Louis County this weekend. Deputies say a home and barn in Fredenberg Township were broken into on Saturday while the owners were out of town. Three firearms and ammunition were stolen, and significant damage was reported. The suspect vehicle was found nearby. Both the driver and passenger were arrested after a brief chase. Both suspects face first-degree burglary charges.

(Tower, MN) — A missing man with dementia is safe after a search south of Tower in St. Louis County. Deputies say seventy-six-year-old Timothy Kotzian walked away from his home on Sunday afternoon. He was last seen on the Prospector’s Trail. Multiple agencies joined the search, and Kotzian was found uninjured and reunited with his family.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Minneapolis police are investigating two separate shootings early Sunday that left two people dead and one injured. Officials say a man died after being shot around 1:49 a.m., and another man was hurt. About six hours later, a woman was fatally shot in what may be a domestic incident. No arrests have been made in either case. Chief Brian O’Hara urges anyone with information to come forward.
