More than 38 years in prison for a Hopkins man convicted of fatally shooting another man in the back after robbing him in a north Minneapolis park in June 2017. The judge told 27-year-old Chance Adams “there is no rational explanation for what happened the night of the murder… All this for 40 dollars cash and a cell phone.” According to court testimony, 18-year-old George Pineda and a friend were walking through Webber Park in the early morning when Adams approached them, ordered them to the ground, robbed them and shot Pineda twice in the back. Prosecutors say with his gun out of bullets, Adams ran away.
