The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have returned right-handed pitcher Bailey Ober from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 15-day Injured List.
Ober, who was placed on the IL on May 31 with right elbow inflammation, made two starts on rehab assignment for High-A Cedar Rapids (June 28) and Triple-A St. Paul (July 4), combining to allow seven runs on 13 hits in 8.1 innings pitched, with no walks and six strikeouts. Prior to being placed on the IL, Ober went 6-3 with a 4.59 ERA (66.2 IP, 34 ER), 18 walks, 46 strikeouts, a 1.22 WHIP and a .243 opponent batting average in 12 starts for the Twins this season. He is scheduled to make the start this afternoon against the Cleveland Guardians at Target Field, his first for Minnesota since May 30 at Pittsburgh.
Ober will take the 26-man roster spot vacated by right-handed pitcher Marco Raya, who was placed on the 15-day Injured List yesterday with right shoulder impingement.
Additionally, the Twins have placed left-handed pitcher Connor Prielipp on the 15-day Injured List with a left middle finger blister. Prielipp has gone 2-5 with a 5.00 ERA (66.2 IP, 37 ER), 25 walks and 71 strikeouts in 13 starts for the Twins this season.
To replace Prielipp on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled left-handed pitcher Kendry Rojas from St. Paul. Rojas, 23, will be making his third stint with the Twins this season and has gone 1-0 with a 1.65 ERA (16.1 IP, 3 ER), 13 walks, 18 strikeouts and a .214 opponent batting average in six games (2 starts) for Minnesota. He recently appeared in two games (1 start) for the Saints, going 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA (5.2 IP, 2 ER), one walk and six strikeouts from June 28-July 3.
