2019 was the third-snowiest calendar year on record in Duluth, with nearly 130 inches — that’s almost 11 feet — of snow since January. Kenny Blumenfeld with the state Climatology Office says, “Got very snowy from the end of January especially, and then right on into May — an incredible snowfall during May in Duluth.” Blumenfeld adds Duluth has been “pretty snowy” in November and December.
He notes other places in Minnesota’s Arrowhead were even snowier in 2019 than Duluth: For example Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland, and from Isabella right up to the Grand Portage area.
