Police are investigating after a five-year-old child was reportedly thrown from a balcony at the Mall of America this morning. Bloomington Police Chief Jeff Potts says “the child did suffer significant injuries, the child has been transported to the hospital and is currently receiving care.” Potts says witnesses also indicated “that the suspect that had either pushed or possibly thrown the child took off running immediately after the incident. We located that suspect quickly and that suspect has been taken into custody.” The suspect currently in custody at the Bloomington Police Department. Potts says it’s not clear if the suspect knew the victim or what led to the incident. He says there does not appear to be any threat to the public.
