6th Annual United Way Action Day at Target Field tonight

August 18, 2016 By Scott Peterson

actionday

The 6th Annual United Way Action Day gets underway at Target Field tonight (5-pm).

Volunteers will be filling six-thousand backpacks with school supplies for Minnesota students in need. Spokeswoman Katie Ladas (lad-iss) says “the kids and families literally line up for these backpacks and the joy on the faces of the kids are just absolutely invaluable as they pull out the backpacks and look inside and show everybody what’s going on–it’s very exciting.”

Ladas says there will also be live music, games, giveaways and prizes–including sports items autographed by current and former Twins and Wild players.

Admission is free when you pre-register, which you can do at gtcuw.org/actionday. The first 2500 volunteers through the gate tonight will get a free pair of Twins tickets.

And event sponsors are donating a $1 match up to $5,000 for every use of the #huMNkind on social media.
