The state budget forecast is due out Thursday. Earlier updates indicate another surplus — this time 863-million-dollars — and Governor Mark Dayton expects that number will go up. As for what the state does with the money, Dayton says “there’s no shortage of ideas, you got 201 legislators–most of them running for re-election, they’re going to have no shortage of ideas, I’m going to give it some time and see.” Dayton says pre-k education remains a priority, but adds with another forecast due in February it’s premature to make any “hard, fast decisions” about spending now.
