Minnesota Health Commissioner, Doctor Ed Ehlinger announces this morning (11am) whether patients with intractable pain will be eligible for the state’s medical marijuana program. Patrick McClellan with Minnesotans for Compassionate Care says he’s had “tremendously good response” using medical cannabis to reduce his muscle spasms and pain. He says “there are a lot of people that deserve it just as much as I do, and I believe a lot of people deserve it more than I do.” But a special panel of medical providers did not support adding intractable pain to the list of qualifying conditions, citing uncertainty about the effectiveness of medical cannabis.
