(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota volleyball team takes on Ohio State in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday morning in Austin, Texas. The 22-8 Golden Gophers are the eighth-overall seed in the tournament and will be facing the Buckeyes for the third time this season. Minnesota beat Ohio State in Columbus 3-1 during the final weekend of the regular season less than two weeks ago. The 21-9 Buckeyes beat Minnesota in Minneapolis in straight sets back on October 12th. The Gophers have won five straight matches overall and nine of their past ten. Meanwhile, Ohio State had dropped the final four matches of its regular season before rebounding with a pair of NCAA Tourney wins last weekend. Thursday’s match time is set for 11 A-M with television coverage on ESPN 2, as well a radio broadcast on the Gopher Radio Network. The winner of the match will advance to Saturday’s Elite Eight in Austin, and face the winner of Thursday’s game between Texas and Marquette.
