(St. Paul, MN) — A student at St. Paul Central High School is facing assault charges after a teacher was seriously injured after trying to break up a fight last Friday. Ramsey County Attorney John Choi (CHOY) says the injured teacher was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury. The teacher and an assistant principal were attempting to break up a fight when Choi says they were assaulted by Fon’Tae O’Bannon. It’s the 27th juvenile case presented to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office this year under the state law that protects school officials from being assaulted or harmed, and Choi says that’s nearly double the cases compared to last year.
