The new memoir “Al Franken-Giant of the Senate” hits bookstores today. The book shows Franken’s funny side, in addition to giving an insight into his days at SNL and his rocky first campaign for the Senate. Franken writes that his friend, Paul Wellstone, played a big role in his decision to run. Franken calls him a “hero”. The Minnesota Democrat narrowly defeated Republican Norm Coleman in 2008 to take over the seat once held by Wellstone.
