A-A-R-P Minnesota is applauding Governor Mark Dayton’s proposal to allow state employees paid parental leave, but says it’s only the first step. The group’s Seth Boffeli says all Minnesotans should be able to take paid family leave, including those caring for aging parents or grandparents. Boffeli says many of those caregivers are still working and face all the same challenges as parents of young children, including taking a loved one to a doctor’s appointment or to the hospital. Boffeli contends lawmakers need to consider all groups when crafting legislation.
