Governor Mark Dayton has formed a work group led by A-A-R-P to make recommendations on what the state should do to improve the health and safety of seniors in nursing homes and other facilities. It comes after media reports of neglect and abuse, much of which was not investigated or reported to seniors’ family members or guardians. The governor has asked A-A-R-P to work with other organizations representing seniors to provide recommendations ahead of the 2018 session. Dayton says he is committed to proposing legislation next year “to improve oversight of senior care and strengthen the rights of residents and their families.”
