Rape survivor and activist Abby Honold says she spoke with officials at the U of M about accountability and the allegations of sexual misconduct against star basketball player Reggie Lynch last year. The University announced today that Lynch is suspended from academic competition. Honold says she “brought up the prior arrest of Reggie, as well as other victims that I knew of at the time and I know of even more now and I was concerned about it and I brought it up and I did not feel that the response was satisfactory at that time.” At a news conference this morning, Gopher Athletic Director Mark Coyle said his discussions with Honold were productive and that “we talked about the steps we were doing, the steps we were trying to do to make our program better as we move forward.” Honold says she’s not satisfied with the University’s current response and says the victim, who has not been named in this case, deserves to be acknowledged. Lynch denies the accusation against him. Here’s MNN’s Scott Peterson conversation with Abby Honold.
