Native American activists say they’ve reached a temporary agreement with Minneapolis officials and have called off their occupation at the site of a former homeless encampment along Hiawatha Avenue in southeast Minneapolis, reports the Star Tribune. The group is asking for a stronger response to the housing crisis and a “culturally specific” overnight shelter for Native Americans who are homeless. Activists say Minneapolis officials have verbally committed to working with them.
