Activists demand Nolan step down as lieutenant governor candidate

July 20, 2018 By Bill Werner

Activists are demanding Congressman Rick Nolan end his campaign for lieutenant governor and that his running mate, candidate for governor Lori Swanson, weigh in on reports that Nolan didn’t take seriously alleged sexual harassment by a former aide. Elianne Farhat (ELL-ee-ahn FAR-hot) with TakeAction Minnesota says about Attorney General Swanson, “The ball is in her court. It is time for her to step up. It is time for her to show us what type of leadership is going to be for the state of Minnesota.”

Swanson hasn’t commented. Nolan in a statement said he has “zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior” in the workplace. Erin Murphy and Tim Walz — Swanson and Nolan’s D-F-L rivals in the August 14th primary — both issued statements critical of Nolan.
