Starting today when you buy a pack of cigarettes you’ll be paying close to 3.50 in taxes. The American Lung Association’s Bob Moffitt says the tobacco tax has cut tobacco use among adults and children, citing smoking rates among high school students going from 18-percent to 10-percent. The Minnesota Service Station & Convenience Store Association’s Lance Klatt says this is causing Minnesota smokers to shop elsewhere, and hopes lawmakers will repeal the tobacco tax.
