>>Judge Orders Unredacted Records Reviewed in Renee Good Shooting Case

(Minneapolis, MN) – The federal government must turn over unredacted evidence related to the fatal shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent for private court review. A U.S. District Court judge has given federal officials three weeks to provide the materials for an in-camera review. That means the judge will examine the records confidentially, and they won’t be released publicly at this time. The order comes from a separate criminal case involving ICE agent Jonathan Ross, who fatally shot Good. No timeline has been set for any public release of the information.

 

>>Man Killed During Multi-Vehicle Crash in Willmar

(Willmar, MN) – A Kerkhoven man is dead after a multi-vehicle crash west of Willmar this morning. At around 7:20 a.m., two vehicles collided in the eastbound lane of Highway 40, which is just east of the entrance to the Willmar airport. No one was injured. Conditions were very foggy at the time, and the crash caused a traffic backup. A 68-year-old man who was passing by stopped to check on the crash, got out of his vehicle, and was struck and killed by an eastbound SUV. The driver, 30-year-old Jessica Schneider of Maynard, was not hurt. The name of the man who was killed will be released at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

 

>>Arrest Made in Swift County Hit‑and‑Run Investigation

(Benson, MN) – One person is in custody in connection with a hit‑and‑run reported late last month northeast of Benson. Swift County deputies say the arrest was made Thursday afternoon, but additional details are being withheld. A full press release is expected later today. The victim was found on March 27th lying on a gravel road next to a damaged SUV. Deputies say they located a vehicle of interest earlier this week. The victim’s identity and condition have not been released.

 

>>Fire Destroys Sartell Mobile Home

(Sartell, MN) – A mobile home in Sartell was destroyed by an early-morning fire. Authorities say the occupants were able to safely escape before firefighters arrived and brought the flames under control. Several nearby trailer homes sustained minor, cosmetic damage from heat exposure. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting with the investigation. While the exact cause has not been determined, officials believe the fire originated near the front of the home. The American Red Cross is helping the displaced homeowner with temporary housing and other assistance.

 

>>Minneapolis Gang Member Pleads Guilty in Federal RICO Case

(Minneapolis, MN) – A Minneapolis man is the first defendant to plead guilty in a major federal racketeering case involving a violent street gang. Federal prosecutors say 37‑year‑old Deontae “Leef” Jackson pleaded guilty last Friday to RICO conspiracy. Jackson is one of 14 members of the Minneapolis‑based gang known as the Lows charged in the case. In his plea, Jackson admitted to trafficking narcotics on behalf of the gang, including conspiring to distribute at least 1.2 kilograms of fentanyl. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.

 

>>MN Small Business Owners on War, Economy

(St. Paul, MN) – It’s been a tough year for small businesses in Minnesota. From tariffs and Operation Metro Surge to the war in Iran and a tougher economy. Representative Kelly Morrison says events like this occur, but this is different; it’s “self-inflicted.” She adds, For example, most recently we had a global pandemic, but these are specific policies instituted by this administration that have just been incredibly harmful to the small business community.” Morrison has been spending her time away from Washington meeting with small business owners in the Third District.

 

>>Stearns County Awarded Nearly $1 Million to Fight Human Trafficking

(Stearns County, MN) – The Stearns County Attorney’s Office has been awarded nearly one million dollars to support human trafficking investigations across central Minnesota. The office received a $955,000  grant through the Minnesota Office of Justice Programs to fund the Central Minnesota Human Trafficking Task Force. The funding covers a two‑year period, running from May 2026 through April 2028, and will be used to expand investigative resources, training, and victim‑centered practices. Officials say the award recognizes the task force’s strong collaborative model and regional partnerships.

 

>>Duluth Police Recover Stolen Bicycles, Make Four Arrests

(Duluth, MN) – Duluth Police have recovered two high‑value bicycles and made four arrests following a burglary investigation. Police were called around 7:30 this morning after a report that two bicycles worth more than $5,000 were stolen overnight. Investigators were able to track the bikes to a residence in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Officers executed a search warrant and recovered both bicycles. During the search, 33‑year‑old Joseph Tynjala was arrested on pending first‑degree burglary charges. Three others were also taken into custody: 36‑year‑old Sasha Santa on an outstanding warrant, 40‑year‑old Michael Schaefer, and 46‑year‑old Beau Peacock on pending obstruction charges.
