(Duluth, MN) — Duluth police are looking for a missing woman. 40-year-old Tarah Fichtner was last seen on Wednesday, March 19th, around 4:40 p.m. in downtown Duluth. She’s described as white, 5 feet 4 inches tall, and 115 pounds. Fichtner was last seen wearing a black jacket, black leggings, a blue hat, and white tennis shoes and carrying a red backpack with a red Savers clothing bag.

 

>>Missing 40-Year-Old Anoka Man

(Anoka, MN) — There’s concern for a missing Anoka man’s mental health. 40-year-old Brandon Scott was last seen in Anoka on Tuesday and missed showing up for work on Thursday. Brandon is described as Black, 6 feet 3 inches tall, and 237 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He does not have a vehicle. 

 

>>SSP City Council Member Faces Calls to Resign After Meth Daycare Incident

(South St. Paul, MN) — A South St. Paul City Council member is facing public calls to resign after an incident at her daycare. On December 6th, a three-year-old child ingested an unknown substance at Pam Bakken’s in-home daycare. A trip to the doctor confirmed it was methamphetamine in the boy’s system, causing him to throw up and act strangely. The State Department of Human Services suspended Bakken’s license to run the facility. The community is now calling for her resignation with a petition after no moves have been made by the city council.

 

>>Immigration Judge Mulling Bond For University Of Minnesota Student In ICE Custody

(St. Paul, MN) — An immigration judge is deciding whether to grant bond for Dogukan Gunaydin, a graduate student from the University of Minnesota, who is currently in ICE custody. Gunaydin, a Turkish national, was arrested on March 27th due to a prior drunken driving conviction, which has also led to the revocation of his student visa. The judge heard arguments from both sides and stated that she will issue a written order regarding her decision. However, no timeline for this decision was provided.

 

>>Minnesota Woman Charged With Assaulting Flight Crew Member

(Fargo, ND) — A Minnesota woman has been charged with assaulting a flight crew member on a plane heading from Las Vegas to Grand Forks, North Dakota. 64-year-old Jody Lynn Sherry-Berg, a resident of Bemidji, faces charges for interfering with the duties of an Allegiant flight employee during the incident on January 16th. Authorities allege that Sherry-Berg inappropriately grabbed a flight crew member’s genitals. She is currently free on her own recognizance and is scheduled for a court hearing on April 21st. 

 

>>Rep. Omar Will Not Run for U.S. Senate

(Minneapolis, MN) — Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar of Minneapolis will not be running for U.S. Senate. Omar was one of the many Democrats seen as a potential candidate to replace Senator Tina Smith’s empty seat in 2026. Omar says, “At a time when our rights are under attack, it is more important than ever to fight back against the chaos, corruption, and callousness of the Trump administration.” Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan and former Senate Minority Leader Melisa López Franzen plan to seek the Democratic nomination for Smith’s seat.

 

>>Bill Designates Highway 23 in Kandiyohi County in Honor of Fallen Soldier Schmit

(St. Paul, MN) — A bill passed unanimously by the Minnesota House will designate part of Highway 23 in Kandiyohi County as the Sergeant Joshua A. Schmit Memorial Highway. 26-year-old Schmit was killed in action in Iraq in 2007. Representative Dave Baker of Willmar says naming this highway in his honor ensures that Sergeant Schmit’s name, his courage, and his sacrifice are never forgotten. Schmitt served in the U.S. Army and Minnesota National Guard.
