(Minneapolis, MN) — Minneapolis police are investigating the shooting death of a man. Around 11:40 Sunday night, officers responded to a shooting report in south Minneapolis. Fire and EMS crews initially responded but called police after learning he was shot. The victim was brought to Hennepin Healthcare, where he later died. No arrests have been made, and it’s unknown what led to the shooting. Police ask anyone with information to reach out.

(Ramsey County, MN) — The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office (RCAO) is not pursuing criminal charges against three St. Paul police officers in the fatal shooting of 41-year-old Pepsi Heinl. On May 6th, 2024, officers Chee Lao, Yengkong Lor, and Chiking Chazonkhueze responded to a 911 call of a woman reporting her daughter, Heinl, was threatening to kill herself. The officers followed the mother to Heinl’s bedroom, where she refused to respond verbally. Heinl then stood up, grabbed a handgun, and pointed it at the officers, two of whom were only two feet away. The officers fired 18 shots total, 15 of which hit and killed Heinl. RCAO determined the deadly use of force was legally justified after reviewing an investigation report by the Minnesota BCA.
>>Special Police Teams Called to Arrest Uncooperative Man in Superior
(Superior, WI) — A 36-year-old man is in custody after specialized police teams were deployed in Superior, Wisconsin, this morning. Police responded to a report of an individual causing a disturbance inside a home and in the neighborhood around 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses say the man was yelling, breaking multiple windows, and throwing glass and other objects onto the street from a second-story window. Officers say a neighbor attempted a welfare check on the man, finding him suicidal with a handgun. The neighbor took the gun and fled the home. The man resisted police, refusing to come out of the house. He also damaged a special phone used for direct communication with the Crisis Response Team. He was finally arrested around midnight after gas munitions and a Taser were deployed.

(Eagan, MN) — Congresswoman Angie Craig is cheering news that the EPA issued an emergency waiver today allowing nationwide sales of E-15 this summer. Craig and a bipartisan group sent a letter to President Trump urging the administration to give all drivers access to 15 percent ethanol fuel from June to mid-September. Minnesota and seven other ethanol-producing states have permanent summer waivers. Craig called this emergency waiver “a step in the right direction of codifying nationwide year-round E-15.”

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is granting over $2.7 million to four communities to help transition away from fossil fuels. All recipients are areas with power plants that have ceased operations or are scheduled to. Benton County will receive $1 million, Cohasset gets $750,000, Oak Park Heights will receive $374,800, and Otter Tail County gets $650,000. The Community Energy Transition grants will fund research, planning, and activity implementation to support local economies.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Tickets go on sale May 9th for the world premiere of ‘Purple Rain’ the musical at the State Theatre in Minneapolis. The production is scheduled to run from October 16th through November 16th in Prince’s hometown. It was supposed to open this spring, but it got delayed until fall. The Broadway musical is based on the film Purple Rain, and former Prince bandmates Bobby Z and Morris Hayes are music advisers. Tickets will be available next Friday morning at HennepinArts.org.
