>>AG Ellison Sues Trump Administration Over Election Order

(St. Paul, MN) — Attorney General Keith Ellison is suing the Trump administration over a new executive order he says would unlawfully interfere with state-run elections. Ellison, 22 other attorneys general, and one governor are challenging the order. It would create a federal list of eligible voters and limit mail ballots to voters approved by the federal government. States that do not comply could face criminal penalties or the loss of federal funding. The lawsuit argues the president lacks authority to change election procedures without action from Congress and says the order would cause confusion just months ahead of the 2026 general election.

 

>>Pickup, Plow Crash in St. Louis County

(Fredenberg Township, MN) – The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office reports a head-on crash between a county plow truck and a pickup truck in Fredenberg Township. The crash happened just before 8 o’clock this morning. Law enforcement says the 28-year-old driver of the pickup truck was taken by helicopter for life threatening injuries. A dog in the pickup did not have any apparent injuries. Upon initial investigation, deputies believe alcohol use by the pickup driver was a factor in the crash. It is still currently under investigation.

 

>>Kevin Garnett Will Return to Target Center

(Minneapolis) – The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Team Ambassador Kevin Garnett will make an appearance at Target Center for the April 12 game against New Orleans. This will be Garnett’s first appearance at Target Center since 2018. The event will be part of the Timberwolves regular season finale and Fan Appreciation Night. The Wolves will show K-G highlights during the night. The team plans to retire his jersey during the 2026-27 season. Those details have not been announced.

 

>>Minnesota Wild Clinch Playoff Spot

(St. Paul, MN) – The Minnesota Wild are heading back to the NHL Playoffs. The Wild clinched their spot with a 5-2 win Thursday night over Vancouver at Grand Casino Arena. This will be the Wild’s 15th trip to the postseason and 12th in the last 14 years. The playoff schedule will be announced at the conclusion of the regular season. The Wild has seven regular season games left on the schedule. Playoff tickets will go on sale for the First Round beginning Monday, April 6.

 

>>Eleven Named Finalists for Minnesota Teacher of the Year

(St. Paul, MN) — Eleven educators from across Minnesota are finalists for 2026 Minnesota Teacher of the Year. Organizers say the finalists were chosen by an independent panel from a pool of 128 candidates statewide. The group includes teachers from elementary, middle, and high schools, representing subjects ranging from biology and music to special education and career and technical training. The selection panel will interview the finalists on May 2nd, with the winner announced at a banquet May 3rd at the Saint Paul RiverCentre.
