(Brooklyn Park, MN) – An 11-year-old Brooklyn Park girl is missing. Police say Amina Maryam Rice-El was last seen on March 23rd. She’s described as Black, five feet tall, 90 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

 

>>Moorhead Teen Missing for Over 30 Days

(Moorhead, MN) – Moorhead police are searching for a missing 16-year-old. Shady River Jr. was last seen on March 8th and has remained missing for over 30 days. He’s described as Native American, five feet eight inches tall, 125 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Shady was last seen wearing a pink sweatshirt, gray jeans with holes, and black and white Nike shoes.

 

>>Fatal Police Shooting in Superior, WI

(Superior, WI) – A fatal police shooting is under investigation in Superior. According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, the incident began around 9:47 p.m. Tuesday when an officer approached a group of three people, including an individual who was wanted. Authorities say one of the people attempted to flee, leading to a physical altercation with the officer. During that struggle, the officer discharged their weapon, striking the individual. The person who was shot was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer sustained injuries during the incident and was taken to a local hospital, where they were treated and remain in stable condition. Investigators say a gun was recovered at the scene. The officer, who was wearing an activated body camera at the time, has been placed on standard administrative leave. Neither the officer nor the individual who was fatally shot has been identified.

 

>>Four Juveniles Arrested After Aggravated Robberies in Minneapolis

(Minneapolis, MN) – Four juveniles are in custody after two aggravated robberies in Minneapolis on Tuesday. Police say around 5:45 p.m., a man was approached by the group of four. Investigators say they assaulted him in an attempted carjacking, and one suspect brandished a gun and robbed the victim of his wallet. Moments later, less than a block away, a woman in her 60s and a man in his 50s were ordered out of their vehicle. Police say the suspects stole the car, along with the woman’s purse and phone. Around 9:30 p.m., officers located the car in north Minneapolis. The car fled from a traffic stop and eventually crashed into another occupied vehicle. The 15‑year‑old driver fled and was arrested after officers recovered a discarded firearm. Three additional juveniles, ages 15, 16, and 17, were taken into custody. Two were booked into juvenile detention on aggravated robbery charges. One remains hospitalized with non‑life‑threatening injuries.

 

>>Small Business Owners Ask Lawmakers for Operation Metro Surge Relief

(St. Paul, MN) – Emotional testimony from small business owners statewide impacted by the recent Operation Metro Surge by immigration agents. A bill at the Capitol would provide $100 million in relief grants. Maysy Her, who owns a restaurant in St. Paul, is worried about her future. She says small business owners shouldn’t be “left alone to carry all the weight.” Stephanie Lopez, whose family owns a bar and grill in Willmar, says the fear and risk of detention is so overwhelming that they closed for two months, despite her being a U.S. citizen. The bill was heard in the House Workforce, Labor, and Economic Development Committee. No action was taken today.

 

>>First Ocean-Going Vessel of Season Arriving in Twin Ports

(Duluth, MN) – The Ocean Ranger 7 passed under the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge this morning, making it the first ocean-going vessel to arrive this navigation season. Jayson Hron of the Duluth Seaway Port Authority says the Dutch-built cargo ship is carrying “a large number of project cargo pieces. And its energy sector cargo is eventually bound for Alberta, Canada. Hron says this shows how Duluth’s seaport is a key link in the supply chain for Minnesota and the entire midsection of North America. The heaviest piece of cargo weighs more than 11,500 freight tons.

 

>>Minnesota Families Encouraged to Claim State’s Child Tax Credit

(St. Paul, MN) – Raising kids isn’t cheap, but Minnesota’s Child Tax Credit could help make ends meet if you claim it. Jean Thompson with tax non-profit Prepare and Prosper says for many households, it helps cover basic needs like rent, housing, groceries, childcare, and transportation. She says families also can choose advance payments, which lets them receive next year’s credit early. This parses out the payment through the year versus a lump-sum payment. Families that qualify can get up to $1,750 per child under the age of 18. The tax filing deadline is April 15th, one week from today.

 

>>Michelin Guide Coming to Minnesota, Minneapolis Restaurants to Be Rated

(Minneapolis, MN) – For the first time, Minnesota is landing in the Michelin Guide. Michelin announced it will evaluate restaurants in Minneapolis as part of its upcoming “American Great Lakes” guide. It will also include Milwaukee, Detroit, Cleveland, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh. Anonymous Michelin inspectors are already visiting restaurants, with final ratings set to be revealed in 2027.
