(St. Paul, MN) — The St. Paul Police Department is searching for an endangered, vulnerable adult. Eighteen-year-old Amberlin Heywood was last seen around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Paul. She’s described as white, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 160 pounds, with blonde hair and blue-green eyes. Heywood was last seen wearing red and black basketball shorts, a black t-shirt, a green hoodie, black sweatpants, and black, red, and white Nike Air Max shoes. She was also carrying a black backpack with two to three white stripes. Anyone who sees her should not approach her and instead call 911.

(St. Paul, MN) — A 12-year-old boy is in critical condition after accidentally shooting himself early this morning. St. Paul police responded to the residential report around 1:30. The boy was taken to Regions Hospital. Police say it’s unknown how the boy got the gun or who it belongs to. The investigation is active.

(Undated) — Senator Tina Smith is calling President Donald Trump’s choice to deploy the National Guard to Washington, D.C., “wasteful,” “unnecessary,” and a “distraction from the economic calamity of his trade war and his refusal to release the Epstein files.” Trump announced today he’s activating 800 National Guard members to the Capitol to reduce crime, declaring a public safety emergency. He says they will remove homeless encampments and “get rid of the slums.” Smith says these soldiers are being deployed “for no reason other than to satisfy the ego of the President.” This also comes after Washington, D.C., leaders have stated there is no crime emergency and that crime rates have actually been dropping.

(Undated) –The Minnesota BCA (Bureau of Criminal Apprehension) released its 2024 No-Knock Search Warrant Report today with a significant drop in numbers compared to the past three years. In 2024, there were 19 warrants requested, 18 issued, 16 executed, 1 denied, and 10 where the sought evidence was located. When comparing the data from 2023, ’22, and ’21, the BCA’s no-knock warrants saw a drastic difference. Looking at the highest numbers since the statute requiring reporting went into effect in 2021, warrants requested dropped by 166 (185 in 2022), warrants issued by 161 (179 in 2022), warrants denied by 5 (6 in 2022), warrants executed by 142 (158 in 2022) and warrants were the sought evidence was located by 138 (148 in 2022). The BCA does not hold data on whether cases related to warrants are open or closed, sealed, or if officers executing them were undercover.

(Washington County, MN) — Lake Alice in Washington County is no more. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says the 26-acre, manmade lake in William O’Brien Park rapidly dried up over the weekend due to a “mechanical failure of the 65-year-old water control structure.” Officials say when DNR staff tried to close a valve within it, they learned the closure mechanism failed and was stuck open, draining almost all water within the lake. Pictures and videos from residents online show that only small streams of water remain, and hundreds of fish that lived there are dying. DNR officials say it will take at least a month before water activities can begin again.

A day’s worth of activities, including workshops, performances, and a panel discussion on the state of the transgender movement, the free, full-day event is designed for the transgender and gender nonconforming community to connect. This year’s theme is “Trans Equity and Intergenerational Power: Strengthening the Future by Honoring Our Past.” The keynote speaker is Miss Major, a national activist centered on uplifting trans women of color, specifically those who were formerly incarcerated. Miss Major helped provide care for people with HIV/AIDS in the eighties, and she founded San Francisco’s first mobile needle exchange.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Thursday through Sunday, the Minnesota Twins and The Salvation Army enter their second season of an in-game radiothon that supports the Bed & Bread Club. Thought to be the first of its kind in Major League Baseball, each Twins radio broadcast during the club’s four-game series vs. the Detroit Tigers will feature three separate segments, showcasing inspiring stories of families supported by The Salvation Army’s Bed & Bread Club. The club is a monthly giving program that helps residents with emergency and transitional housing. Over eighty AM and FM stations throughout Minnesota, the Dakotas, Iowa, and Wisconsin will carry the broadcasts. The games and times are: 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, 7:10 p.m. on Friday, and 1:10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

(Bloomington, MN) — POP MART, a toy brand known for creating the recently popularized Labubu dolls, will be opening its first physical store in Minnesota at the Mall of America (MOA). The brand has over 350 stores globally and has seen mass recognition lately due to a character from The Monsters line going viral on TikTok. The store is set to open this fall on Level 1 of the mall.
