(Undated) – Minnesota voters have until 8 p.m. tonight to cast their ballots in the state’s primary election. Major races include Minnesota governor, U.S. Senate and for Congress. There are also a handful of primary elections for state lawmaker positions. If you’re using an absentee or mail ballot, those must also arrive before today’s election deadline. The winners from tonight’s primary move on to the general election on November 3rd.

(Duluth, MN) — The Superior National Forest is opening more areas of the Boundary Waters as crews continue battling wildfires in northern Minnesota. Beginning Thursday, the Forest Service says more than 1,600 campsites will be open across the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Forty additional campsites are reopening after officials reduced the closure area around the Little Knife Fire. The Echo Trail is open, but some nearby National Forest land remains closed because of Camp Fire activity. Officials warn wildfire conditions could change quickly, and reopening plans may be adjusted if fire activity increases.

(Taylors Falls, MN) — Taylor Farms is recalling several products containing jalapeños in Minnesota due to possible salmonella contamination. The company was recently linked to a Cyclospora outbreak involving lettuce products. The recall includes several items sold at Walmart stores in Minnesota, including Hot or Spicy Pico De Gallo and Mild Pico De Gallo. Taylor Farms says it is not aware of any illnesses connected to the recalled jalapeño products.

(Hennepin County, MN) — A former Hennepin County sheriff’s deputy has been sentenced following a domestic assault incident at a hospital. Thirty-year-old Dillon Field was accused in February of yelling at his wife and pushing his mother-in-law in a hospital room while his wife was giving birth. The incident prompted hospital lockdown. Field pleaded guilty to one count of domestic assault and was sentenced to one year of probation and 16 hours of community service. The case will be dismissed if he successfully completes the terms of his probation.

(Motley, MN) — Zebra mussels have been confirmed in another central Minnesota lake. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says an angler discovered a zebra mussel in Shamineau Lake near Motley in Morrison County. DNR invasive species staff later searched the public water access and other areas and found a second adult zebra mussel. Boaters are reminded to clean and drain watercraft and equipment and dispose of unwanted bait in the trash to help prevent aquatic invasive species from spreading to other lakes.

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom is celebrating 40 years of helping students learn where their food comes from and how agriculture affects their daily lives. Foundation Director Ann Marie Ward says the program has grown from an idea to bring agriculture back into classrooms into a statewide effort involving commodity groups, organizations and individuals. The curriculum is designed to incorporate agriculture into existing lessons while meeting state academic standards. Ward says the program is now used in 88 percent of Minnesota public school districts and reaches nearly 160,000 students.

(St. Paul, MN) – Minnesota schools, early childhood education centers and licensed in-home family childcare providers can now apply for funding to bring more locally sourced food to kids’ plates. The funding is available through the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Farm to Kids Program. The MDA says approximately $1.47 million is available through the fiscal year 2027 programs. The programs reimburse eligible purchases of foods grown or raised in Minnesota and for eligible applicants, kitchen equipment used in the preparation of local foods. More than 600 schools, school districts, early care centers, and family daycares have received Farm to Kids funding.

(Minneapolis) – The WNBA announced today Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride has been named Western Conference Player of the Week. The honor is the third of her career and the second time this season. For the week, McBride averaged 24 points including a 43-point game Sunday against Dallas. McBride hit a league record 10 three-pointers in that game. The Lynx are the first team to clinch a playoff spot this season and play at Portland tomorrow night.
