>>Moorhead Police Search for Missing 17-Year-Old

(Moorhead, MN) — A seventeen-year-old girl from Moorhead is missing. Police say Ruweyda Yusuf left her residence in June and hasn’t returned home. She was reported missing on Thursday and is believed to be in the Twin Cities. Yusuf is described as Black, five feet four inches tall, one hundred fifty pounds, with black hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black dress and a brown hijab.

 

>>Cass County IDs Victims of Determined Murder-Suicide

(Outing, MN) — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is ruling a fire in Outing as a murder-suicide. Around 2:43 a.m., deputies responded to a structure fire report. On arrival, the home was fully engulfed in flames. The bodies of 56-year-old Connie and 63-year-old Jack Pollock were found inside. Autopsies confirmed Connie died from a gunshot wound to the chest, and Jack died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation remains ongoing.

 

>>Deadly Motorcycle Accident in Nicollet County

(Nicollet County, MN) – A 44-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Nicollet County. Deputies responded to a motorcycle accident report around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday on Judson Bottom Road near Minnemishinona Falls Park. They found the driver, Michael McMahon, dead at the scene. No other information is available at this time. The investigation continues.

 

>>Sen. Xiong Arrested for 2nd Suspected DWI

(Maplewood, MN) — DFL Senator Tou Xiong of Maplewood was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DWI) on Thursday morning, his second DWI while in office. The Minnesota State Patrol says Xiong was pulled over around 2:40 a.m. in Maplewood and arrested. He blew a 0.9 BAC and was charged with third-degree DUI. Xiong says he was driving home from a family gathering when he was pulled over, takes full responsibility for his actions, and is talking to his family and the Senate now. Xiong was arrested in January 2022 for a DWI, a state representative at the time. He pleaded guilty and was given a year of probation.

 

>>Union Workers Announce Investigations of Alleged Wage Theft by Counties

(St. Paul, MN) – Workers and union leaders with SEIU Local 26 have announced investigations of alleged wage theft in Hennepin and Ramsey counties. The union says these workers may have lost more than $700,000 in unpaid wages. The workers are subcontractors who clean and protect buildings in those two counties. The complaint says about 75 workers may have been underpaid by $5-$12 an hour. The union and members have filed evidence with the County Attorney’s offices in both Hennepin and Ramsey. Those offices will determine if the evidence shows that criminal or civil wage theft occurred.

 

>>Ex-School Employee Charged in Privacy Case Involving Teen

(Brooklyn Park, MN) — A former school employee in Brooklyn Park is facing charges after allegedly taking a photo of a teenage girl while she was changing clothes in his classroom. 50-year-old Jason Polzin is charged with one count of interfering with the privacy of a minor. Prosecutors say he later superimposed the girl’s image onto a computer-generated nude or lingerie-clad body. The incident reportedly occurred in April 2024. Polzin, who previously worked as a staff member and softball coach at Maranatha Christian Academy and Living Word Christian Center, was released from jail after posting a ten-thousand-dollar bail.

 

>>Ulta and Target Ending Shop-In-Shop Partnership

(Minneapolis, MN) — The four-year collaboration between Ulta Beauty and Target is coming to a close. The beauty retailer and the Minneapolis-based chain will end their shop-in-shop partnership when their agreement expires at the end of the month. Target owned the inventory and staffed the mini Ulta locations inside its stores. But according to Mizuho Securities retail analyst David Bellinger, challenges like disorganized in-store operations, staffing issues, and rising retail theft contributed to the decision to part ways.

 

>>University of Minnesota Extension Looking for Master Gardeners

(St. Paul, MN) – Calling all Minnesotans with green thumbs: The University of Minnesota Extension is looking to add Master Gardener Volunteers to its program. The volunteers will learn and share science-based horticulture knowledge and practices with people across the state. The intention is to promote healthy landscapes and communities through various projects. Currently, the Master Gardener program has more than 3,800 active volunteers. If you would like to join, the U of M Extension is accepting applications from now through October 1st.
