>>Cambridge Man Sentenced to 12.75 Years in Prison for 2nd-Degree Murder

(Cambridge, MN) — A Cambridge man has been sentenced to nearly 13 years in prison after pleading guilty in May to the second-degree unintentional murder of 26-year-old Avontae King of South St. Paul. On November 24th, 2023, 20-year-old Andrew Fisher and his co-defendant traveled to King’s house, grabbing a bag of marijuana and fleeing. All three men ran out of the house, then Fisher shot King and fled with his co-defendant. King was brought to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Fisher’s co-defendant, Tre Iglesias, next court hearing is September 9th in Hastings.

 

>>Superior Man Identified in Fatal Motorcycle vs. Vehicle Crash

(Superior, WI) — A Superior man killed in a motorcycle vs. vehicle crash in Superior Monday has been identified. Police responded to a reported traffic crash with injury around 4:50 a.m. on Stinson Avenue, learning a motorcycle had been hit from behind by a car while both heading east. The rider, 33-year-old Brandon Larsen, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 16-year-old driver and lone occupant of the other vehicle were unharmed. Speed is believed to have been a factor. No other information has been released.

 

>>Hubbard County Inmate Faces Additional Charges in Officer Stabbing

(Park Rapids, MN) — A Hubbard County inmate has been charged with first, second, third, and fourth-degree assault charges after allegedly attacking and stabbing a correctional officer. Sheriff Cory Aukes says on August 7th, the officer was sitting at a desk watching inmates in housing when Cole Pigeon left his cell and attacked the deputy, stabbing him multiple times with a shank. Aukes says Pigeon removed a table bracket to make the weapon. The deputy was brought to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment.

 

>>Man Found Dead in Maplewood Camper Trailer Investigated as Homicide

(Maplewood, MN) — A man found dead in a camper trailer Thursday by Maplewood Police is being investigated as a homicide. Officers responded to the trailer around 7:55 p.m., finding a 38-year-old man had died from multiple gunshot wounds. No other information about the victim, suspects, or death circumstances is available. The Minnesota BCA is helping with the investigation.

 

>>Moorhead Woman Charged with Stabbing a Man in the Neck

(Moorhead, MN) — A Moorhead woman has been charged with stabbing a man in the neck Thursday. Police responded to the stabbing around 10:45 a.m. The 43-year-old victim said the attack was unprovoked, and as he went to a neighbor for help, the woman fled. The victim was taken to Sanford Hospital with a life-threatening injury and is recovering. 36-year-old Mary Hjelseth was arrested around 11:45 a.m. today (FRI) and is charged with attempted murder, felony, and domestic assault.
