>>Repubs say Walz lied about using IVF to start his family

(Various) — As Governor Tim Walz prepares to address the Democratic National Convention tonight (Wed) in Chicago, Republicans are blasting him for originally saying he and Minnesota’s first lady started their family using in vitro fertilization — a procedure strongly opposed by pro-life groups. But Gwen Walz in a statement says they used I-U-I, basically artificial insemination. Former state Senator, Doctor Scott Jensen — Walz’s Republican challenger in the last election — says, “It gives me no pleasure to talk about the origination of Tim Walz family, but I think he owes an apology to our nation and, frankly, to the world for confusing and distorting a highly-sensitive topic.” A campaign spokesperson denied Walz was misleading, saying he “talks how normal people talk” and “was using commonly understood shorthand for fertility treatments.

Walz said when was tapped for the V-P spot on the Democratic ticket, “IVF — and this gets personal for me and my family…. It wasn’t by chance that, when we welcomed our daughter into the world, we named her Hope.” Walz said earlier about Republican rival J-D Vance, “If it was up to him, I wouldn’t have a family because of IVF.” Vance is responding on social media that Walz “lied about having a family via IVF. Who lies about something like that?”
