(St. Paul, MN) – Governor Tim Walz has ordered flags to fly at half-staff on Sunday to honor the life of Le Sueur Police Officer Karl Haugen. Haugen died on August 18, but Sunday marks the day of his interment. Haugen served 13 years as a police officer and a total of 16 years in public service. Governor Walz says, “Haugen’s service, leadership, and commitment are deeply appreciated by his colleagues and the many communities he served.” Flags across the state are already lowered to remember the victims of the Annunciation Catholic School shooting.

(Maple Grove, MN) — Police in Maple Grove are investigating the discovery of a body in a gravel pit area. Officers say a worker reported seeing what appeared to be a dead person in a pond this morning (Fri). The Hennepin County Water Patrol assisted local authorities in recovering the body. Investigators say this may be connected to a missing person report and are working with the family. The medical examiner will determine the manner and cause of death.

(Falcon Heights, MN) — A man is dead and a woman is hospitalized after a motorcycle crash Thursday night near the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. The State Patrol says a cycle driven by 32-year-old Samuel Lewer from Coon Rapids collided with an S-U-V that was turning off Snelling Avenue. Troopers say Lewer died at the scene, and his passenger, 25-year-old Kelly Renelt of Scandia, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The report shows neither rider was wearing a helmet. The S-U-V driver wasn’t hurt.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A thirty-eight-year-old man who fled from law enforcement in Eden Prairie on Tuesday is in custody. The U.S. Marshal Service says Michael Nase was wanted in Hennepin County on a felony warrant for fleeing authorities and for a Minnesota State Patrol violation related to his sex offender status. Nase was arrested with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s North Star Fugitive Task Force, a multi-agency group utilized throughout the state for fugitive investigations.

(St. Anthony, MN) — An endangered man from St. Anthony is missing. Police say fifty-six-year-old Thomas Gust left his group home around 12:45 p.m. on Thursday. He is described as white, six feet three inches tall, and two hundred ninety pounds, with gray hair and green eyes. Gust was last seen wearing a short-sleeve gray button-up shirt, tan khaki shorts, and a black backpack. He uses public transportation and said he was heading to Target in Roseville.

(Duluth, MN) — Duluth Superior Pride 2025 is underway in the Twin Ports. The mayors of Duluth, Superior, and Two Harbors kicked off the event at the opening reception last night. Superior Mayor Jim Paine told the crowd, “This is a port town. It’s a city of immigrants. It’s a city where people have always struggled to find their place. We had to build our community in a way where everybody belonged here.” Activities and events are taking place throughout the weekend, culminating in the Pride Parade on Sunday in Superior.

(Falcon Heights, MN) — The latest numbers show just under 126 thousand people visited the Minnesota State Fair on Thursday. That was about 30 thousand fewer than the record attendance from the second Thursday in 2018. Less than 115 thousand came to the State Fair on Wednesday, but many activities were cancelled following the mass church school shooting in Minneapolis. The Avett Brothers headline the grandstand concert tonight (Fri).
