>>Northern Minnesota Bus Driver Arrested for DWI
(St. Louis County, MN) — A concerned citizen called 911 just after midnight to report a St. Louis County School District bus driver who was consuming alcohol while off-duty. The caller said the driver was “highly intoxicated” and would not be sober by the time he began his route this morning. Deputies made contact with the driver at his home just after 6 a.m. and were assured he was not working today. The school district later informed the sheriff’s office that the 44-year-old driver had shown up and was already en route. Patrol deputies were able to locate the bus and pulled the driver over. Inside the bus were 17 children on their way to Southridge School in Alborn. District staff came to the scene and were able to get the children safely to school. The suspect was given a preliminary breath test and registered .16, well over the legal level for alcohol.
>>Public School Teacher from Mankato Indicted on Child Pornography Charges
(Minneapolis, MN) — Federal prosecutors say a public school teacher from Mankato is facing child pornography charges. Court records allege that 54-year-old Daniel Janke used a messaging app to send and receive images containing child sexual abuse material from October 2023 through January of this year. Janke made his first court appearance Thursday and remains in federal custody. The indictment says the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reviewed the contents of his cell phone and determined the victims do not live in Minnesota.

(Undated) — Senator Nicole Mitchell of Woodbury, charged with burglarizing her stepmother’s Detroit Lakes home, will not face trial until after the 2025 legislative session has begun. Mitchell pleaded not guilty to one count of burglary in August. Her trial is scheduled for January. Mitchell faces calls from both sides of the aisle to resign.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A Nebraska man has been indicted for two violent carjackings. Court documents say on June 16th, 31-year-old Nathan Sughroue used violence and intimidation to steal a Hyundai Elantra from a victim. Later that day, he used force and violence that resulted in serious bodily injury to steal a Nissan Murano from another victim. Sughroe is ordered to remain in federal custody pending further court appearances.

(St. Cloud, MN) — A Minnesota-based “shock jock” podcast host has been charged with sending private sexual images without consent. 37-year-old Aaron Imholte, host of the Steel Toe Morning Show, was reported for sending a photo of a naked woman he knows to a podcast guest in May, with the men discussing the photo on-air. The woman reported the incident to the police, which resulted in his arrest. Imholte bailed himself out of jail Tuesday under a no-contact order for the victim, denying ever sending or receiving the photo.

(Austin, MN) — Minnesota-based companies Hormel and General Mills are teaming up to create a new twist on breakfast. Hormel says it plans to start selling Cinnamon Toast Crunch Bacon on September 16th. The new product will combine the cinnamon coating from Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal with Hormel’s Black Label Bacon. Cinnamon Toast Crunch Bacon will be sold at selected Walmart and Kroger stores.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The W-B-N-A is honoring Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier as the August Western Conference Player of the Month. Collier averaged 22 points, nine rebounds, and four assists, leading Minnesota to a 6-and-1 record. She was just the Western Conference Player of the Week. Collier also won a gold medal with Team U-S-A in August at the Paris Olympics.
