(Rochester, MN) – Minnesota’s Mayo Clinic is receiving more national honors. The Rochester-based healthcare provider was once again named to U.S. News and World Report’s Best Hospitals Honor Roll. Mayo Clinic took the top spots in the Diabetes and Endocrinology, Gastroenterology and GI Surgery specialty care categories. It also came in third in the specialty care categories of Urology, Pulmonology and Lung Surgery, Orthopedics and Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery. It’s the 37th time that Mayo Clinic’s hospital in Rochester has been named to the list.

(Redwood County, MN) – The four major candidates for Minnesota governor held a forum today on day two of FarmFest in Redwood County. DFL Senator Amy Klobuchar, Republican House Speaker Lisa Demuth and Republican businessmen Mike Lindell and Kendall Qualls took part. The candidates were asked about a range of topics including healthcare, fraud and issues facing Minnesota farmers. The forum comes one week before the August 11th primary.

(St. Paul, MN) – The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency fined the Superior Minerals Company more than $15,000. The agency says the company’s facility in Savage failed to properly test equipment and report daily emissions. MPCA inspections found conveyor systems that transport crushed limestone had not been tested as frequently as federal emissions standards mandate. Facility staff failed to provide records of daily visible emissions checks for the facility’s baghouse. In addition to paying the fine, the Superior Minerals Company submitted a plan to the MPCA ensuring that it will complete performance tests on time. The company has also submitted an application to amend its air permit.

(Jackson, MN) — A southern Minnesota farm cooperative has been fined more than $21,000 for air permit violations. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency says Crystal Valley Cooperative will pay $21,250 after inspectors found that its Jackson facility failed to perform required emissions monitoring and repeatedly missed deadlines for compliance reports and certifications. The MPCA says the co-op has since completed the required reports, resumed emissions checks, and submitted a plan to ensure future compliance.

(Minneapolis) – Minnesota Lynx guard Olivia Miles has received another honor. Today the WNBA named Miles as the Rookie of the Month for July. It is the third consecutive month she has won the award, making her the first rookie in franchise history to earn the honor three times. Miles is ranked eighth in both scoring and assists in the league.
