(Nicollet County, MN) — A Le Seur woman is dead after a one-vehicle crash in Nicollet County Thursday. Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash around 11:30 a.m. Officials say the 43-year-old driver was heading south on U.S. Highway 169 in Lake Prairie Township when she left the roadway and crashed into a ditch and trees. No other information has been released.

(Yellow Medicine County, MN) — A Cottonwood man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Yellow Medicine County Thursday in southwest Minnesota. Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash around 4:06 p.m. at an intersection just north of Hazel Run. A westbound pickup, driven by 60-year-old Robert Proctor, collided with a semi-truck pulling a loaded gravel trailer that failed to yield. Proctor was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-driver, 57-year-old Mark Oftedahl of Little Falls, was brought to a Granite Falls hospital by a private party for non-life-threatening injuries.

(St. Cloud, MN) — A St. Cloud man has pleaded guilty to second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon while robbing a convenience store. St. Cloud police responded to a Marathon gas station around 10 p.m. May 1st on the 911 report of a man with a knife fighting a store employee. The suspect, 27-year-old Jonathan Jovel, tried to buy $130 worth of THC vape products but didn’t have enough money and was told to leave. Jovel left, returned 30 minutes later, jumped over the counter, threatened an employee with a knife, and asked for everything in the register. The two moved into the parking lot after the employee tried to run. The victim wrestled the knife away and held Jovel until officers arrived. Jovel did appear to be intoxicated at the time of the arrest.

(Red Wing, MN) — A Red Wing man was sentenced today (FRI) to 40 years in prison for the 2023 murder of his infant son. On May 23rd (2023), authorities found Hunter McCutchen’s eight-week-old son unresponsive after a 911 report of a baby not breathing. The infant died two days later. McCutchen pleaded guilty to premeditated with intent second-degree murder in exchange for a slew of charges to be dismissed.

Ellison’s tweet included a short message in Portuguese thanking Brazil: “Obrigado Brasil!” In the letter to Walz, Republicans say, given the context, “This post raises a significant concern about what exactly Ellison was celebrating in Brazil…We expect you are troubled by Ellison’s apparent support of censorship of opposition voices in one of the largest democracies in the Western Hemisphere and urge you to join us in condemning it.”

(Northfield, MN) — The annual Defeat Jesse James Day festival is going on this weekend in Northfield. The event features re-enactments of the James-Younger gang’s bank robbery attempt on September 7th, 1876, at the First National Bank of Northfield. The performers fire blank rounds of ammunition during the gunfight, and there are several re-enactments each day. Thousands of people are expected to attend the Grand Parade on Sunday afternoon.
