(Beverly Shores, IN) — The body of a 17-year-old Eagan, Minnesota, teen who went missing on Lake Michigan in Indiana Tuesday has been recovered. DNR says search crews pulled the boy out near Beverly Shores. No other information is being released. DNR officers responded to reports of swimmers in distress off Beverly Shores Tuesday afternoon, finding two swimmers and a good Samaritan needing aid. The three people were brought to a hospital and are in stable condition. The swimmers recounted a third swimmer was last seen about 300 feet from the shore and was missing. Rescue attempts were unsuccessful yesterday due to dangerous water conditions.

 

>>Pine County Searches for Missing Endangered Man

(Sandstone, MN) — The Pine County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help finding a missing endangered man. 39-year-old Levi Borg was last seen walking away from his group home in Sandstone around 10:30 this morning without his phone. Levi is described as white, 6 feet tall, 187 lbs, with hazel eyes, and is bald. He was wearing a dark blue sweatshirt and black shorts with a red design. It’s unknown where he may have gone, and his disappearance is unordinary. Anyone with information is asked to call the Pine County Sheriff’s Office.

 

>>Marquette Law School National Poll Gives Harris Slight Lead Over Trump 

(Milwaukee, WI) — The latest Marquette Law School national poll gives Vice President Kamala Harris a slight lead over former President Donald Trump in the race for the White House. The survey found Harris is the choice for president by 52% of ‘registered’ voters, and Trump is the pick of 48%. The margin is Harris 53% and Trump 47% among ‘likely’ voters. The poll was conducted from July 24th to August 1, which was before Harris selected Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.

 

>>Moorhead Man Pleads Guilty to Meth Distribution Conspiracy

(Moorhead, MN) — A Moorhead man has pleaded guilty to his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. From April 2023 to February 23, 2024, 46-year-old Jamie White entered into an arrangement to get over 500 grams of meth with the intent to distribute. Law enforcement executed a search warrant on his residence on October 26, 2023, on the report of a woman allegedly restrained in his basement. Police found over 400 grams of fentanyl powder laced with xylazine, a veterinary tranquilizer. Messages on White’s phone confirmed the plan to distribute the fentanyl mix. White was arrested, charged, and released on bond last December. With charges still pending, White continued his operation. On February 25, 2024, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service intercepted a parcel bound for a Fargo-Moorhead address that contained meth. A controlled delivery allowed law enforcement to arrest White and his co-conspirators and seize an additional 125 grams of meth and drug distribution materials. White’s sentencing hearing will be scheduled later.

 

>>Willmar Train Derailment Closes Rail Crossing Until Friday

(Willmar, MN) — A railroad crossing in Willmar is closed until Friday after a train derailment Wednesday night. Officials responded to the incident around 11 p.m., finding four train cars on their side and four others off the track yet upright. The cars contained a gas-ethanol mix, but leakage or subsequent fire were found. No injuries were reported. The Lakeland Drive rail crossing will be closed until late Friday afternoon.

 

>>MPCA Warns Businesses of EPA Scam 

(Undated) — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) warns businesses of a new environmental scam. Officials say the scammer will send a fake letter via email or U.S. mail that appears to be from the Environment Protection Agency (EPA), demanding payments of thousands of dollars to settle a violation. The letters are written with an urgent tone and include the EPA’s logo, a case number, and federal citations. The MPCA says businesses will have prior contact with the MPCA before being notified of a violation and penalty.

 

>>Alexandria Police Recover Over 240 Missing Signs in Home Search

(Alexandria, MN) — Alexandria police found over 200 stolen signs while executing a search warrant in Douglas County Wednesday. The search warrant was a part of a several-month-long investigation into stolen sign reports. Officials recovered more than 240 signs, including political campaigns, real estate, and advertising. Police are working to return the sign to its rightful owners.

(Paris, FR) – The U.S. men’s basketball team edged Serbia 95-91 this afternoon to advance to the gold medal game at the Paris Olympics. Team U-S-A rallied back from a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter. Steph Curry scored a game-high 36 points, and LeBron James had 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards was held to two points. The United States will play host France on Saturday for the Olympic gold medal.

 

>> MLS Wayzata Native Clark Transferred to C.F. Montreal

(Golden Valley, MN) — Minnesota United FC has completed its transfer of Wayzata native Caden Clark to C.F. Montreal, the club confirmed in a social media post today. The attacking midfielder was acquired last season from New York Red Bulls under former manager Adrian Heath. In exchange, the Loons receive up to $150,000 in general allocation money (GAM) and a pick in this year’s MLS SuperDraft. Clark played 1,032 minutes in 23 appearances this season. In an Instagram post, Clark said “Thank you to Minnesota for giving me the opportunity to play in front of my hometown and family as I will be forever grateful for that.” MNUFC returns to MLS action on August 24 at Allianz Field.
