>>Screening Held To Show Minnesotans Footage Of Hamas Attack On October 7

(St. Louis Park, MN)  —  Close to 30 Minnesotans, mostly Jewish, viewed a private screening of the October 7th Hamas attack on Israel at a home in St. Louis Park.  The 45-minute edited film showed footage of dead children and burned and mutilated bodies along with other atrocities.  The showing was at the home of Steve Hunegs, who is the head of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas. Those in attendance included attorneys, members of law enforcement, a former college president, and community leaders.

 

>>Mayo Clinic Opens New Cancer Research Facility

(Rochester, MN)  —  Mayo Clinic’s newest 120 million dollar cancer research facility will soon be open for business in Rochester. Staff are expected to start moving into the Anna-Marie and Stephen Kellen Building next week. Mayo officials held a grand opening ceremony this week. Each floor of the 11-story building will house six to seven labs, with up to 700 workers.

 

>>Rochester Man Sentenced to 7.5 Years in Prison for Shooting Boy in Leg

(Rochester, MN) — A Rochester man is sentenced to 7.5 years in prison for shooting a 15-year-old boy. Police say 66-year-old Steven Hart was found guilty of both first and second-degree assault charges with a dangerous weapon after shooting a boy in the leg in March 2022, causing non-life-threatening injuries. Hart requested to be sentenced to mental health treatment through a court-filed memorandum.

 

>>Horse Massage Therapist Suing State Over Licensing Demand

(Becker, MN)  —  A woman who teaches horse owners how to massage their animals to promote better health is suing the state of Minnesota. Leda Mox of Becker says the Minnesota Office of Higher Education recently told her that she’d have to open a private school to continue teaching those classes. That’s a change from ten years ago when she says state education officials told her she didn’t need licensing to teach horse massage. She filed a lawsuit last month claiming the state is violating her free speech rights by demanding oversight of her classes.

 

>>Man Dies From Self-Inflicted Gunshot In Blooming Prairie

(Blooming Prairie, MN)  —  A man is dead after shooting himself during a traffic stop in southern Minnesota Thursday night. The man reportedly stopped, pulled out a gun, and shot himself once in the chest. He died before he could be taken to a hospital. The shooting is under investigation.
