(Undated) — The Minnesota Homeless Study reports more Minnesotans are living outside than a decade ago. Conducted every three years by the Wilder Foundation, the study shows who experiences homelessness and why they are experiencing it. 2023’s survey results show a 10% increase in Minnesota’s unsheltered population from 2013 and that 78% have lived outside for over a year and are stuck in long-term homelessness.

(St. Paul, Minn.) The Minnesota Department of Revenue has announced the adjusted individual tax brackets for 2025. The tax brackets will change by 2.88 percent from the tax year 2024. This annual adjustment will prevent taxpayers from paying taxes at a higher rate solely because of inflationary changes to their income. The standard deduction for couples filing jointly will be $29,900, while for single taxpayers, it will be $14,950.

(Detroit Lakes, MN) — Two people were injured after a car and MnDOT plow truck collided this morning (Mon) near Detroit Lakes. The Minnesota State Patrol says both vehicles were westbound on Highway 34 when the car rear-ended the plow. The driver of the car and plow truck were taken to a Detroit Lakes hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There was snow and ice on the roadway.

(Maplewood, MN) — A 37-year-old man faces charges of domestic assault, leading police on a pursuit, and criminal vehicular homicide. Roseville police responded to a domestic assault report Friday that occurred in Roseville. The victim said her ex-boyfriend, Nicholas Price, shoved her against the wall, threatened, and strangled her. Hours later, police spotted Price’s vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. Price fled and crashed into a parked vehicle in Maplewood. The lone occupant of the other vehicle died of his injuries in the hospital. Price’s blood sample is still processing. He has a pending trial for three separate felonies in Ramsey County and three felon convictions.

(Minneapolis) – Minneapolis Police say speed was likely a factor in a two-vehicle crash this morning that killed two people and injured three others. MPD Chief Brian O’Hara says one vehicle was traveling northbound on Emerson Avenue North when it collided with a vehicle traveling east on 26th Avenue North. Two women died in that vehicle. The other vehicle had a man and woman who reportedly had life-threatening injuries. A 17-year-old boy was also injured when one of the vehicles veered into a bus shelter. The boy was taken to the hospital with apparent non-life-threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Temple Israel, a Minneapolis synagogue, was vandalized this weekend. Two swastikas were found spray-painted at the building’s entrance. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (fry), who attends the Temple, condemned the act and posted his support for the MPD to social media as an investigation began. No arrests have been made. Temple Israel is one of the largest Jewish congregations nationwide.

(St. Cloud, Minn.) – The CentraCare Foundation of St. Cloud celebrated a milestone with its 50th anniversary of the Holly Ball, raising more than a million dollars recently at the River’s Edge Convention Center. The money raised will support the CentraCare Hospice, Coborn Cancer Center, and the Child Advocacy Center. More than 12,000 guests attended the ball this year. Organizers say they’re already planning next year’s event for the 51st year.

(Rochester, MN) — A Preston man faces felony drug charges after a traffic stop bust in Rochester last week. Police conducted the stop around 11 p.m. at a gas station Thursday after seeing a man carrying a small box and backpack and a woman get out of a vehicle, go into another one, then leave the store. The vehicle had an expired registration and multiple traffic violations. Police arrested the passenger, 36-year-old Adam Thompson, who had an active arrest warrant. A search of the box, backpack, and Thompson’s person turned up 322.8 grams of marijuana flower and 1.3 grams of suspected fentanyl. Thompson was convicted in a first-degree drug case in Olmsted County in 2016. His first court appearance was this morning (MON).
